This section gathers the articles on the use of generative AI in the legal sector: legal tech tools, specialised providers arriving in Spain and guidance published by professional bodies and universities.

A law firm or advisory practice that uses AI systems is a deployer under the AI Act, which requires it to take measures to support the AI literacy of its staff (Article 4, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744). If it enters clients' personal data into an external tool, the GDPR applies and processing by the provider as processor must be governed by a contract or other legal act (Article 28(3) GDPR). For lawyers, Article 542(3) of the Spanish Organic Law on the Judiciary sets out the duty to keep secret the facts and information they learn in the course of their professional work.
