This section gathers the articles on competition in digital markets, European technological sovereignty and the role of large tech companies in AI regulation.
Two EU laws frame this area. Regulation (EU) 2022/1925, the Digital Markets Act, imposes obligations on companies designated as gatekeepers by the European Commission. And Chapter V of the AI Act, applicable from 2 August 2025 (Article 113(b)), regulates providers of general-purpose AI models, with obligations for all of them (Article 53) and additional obligations for models classified as having systemic risk (Articles 51 and 55).
