Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on artificial intelligence (the AI Act) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 12 July 2024 and entered into force on 1 August 2024 (Article 113). It applies directly in every Member State and sets obligations according to risk: prohibited practices (Article 5), high-risk systems (Article 6 and Annexes I and III), transparency obligations for certain systems (Article 50) and general-purpose AI models (Chapter V).
It applies in stages. Chapters I and II, which include AI literacy (Article 4) and the prohibited practices, apply from 2 February 2025; Chapter V from 2 August 2025; and the rest of the Regulation, as a general rule, from 2 August 2026 (Article 113). Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 moved the high-risk obligations to 2 December 2027 (Annex III) and 2 August 2028 (Annex I).
The articles in this section, written in Spanish, analyse specific obligations: transparency and labelling of AI-generated content, the boundary of high risk, AI literacy, how AI agents fit in and the routes for complaints.
